“This campaign is a grassroots movement, and it shows in who’s joining us as we get close to the last month of the campaign,” said Perryman. “Before running for office I was a local organizer working to bring racial justice to my community. As I travel the Commonwealth, I’m always blown away by the dedication and impact of fellow activists in every community who are organizing for our future. Those folks are doing more than anyone to bring about the changes we want to see in Virginia: a fair criminal justice system, an economy that works for all, a clean environment, and a government that includes everyone’s voice. I’m honored to work with them to deliver on those values.”
Hampton Roads is crucial for any candidate’s path to victory in a statewide Democratic primary, and Perryman has spent the past months consolidating support from the bottom-up in the region. With a crowded race that will likely yield a thin margin of victory for the winning candidate and a primary electorate that remains mostly undecided, Perryman’s strength in Hampton Roads, as well as Northern Virginia, provides a clear path to victory for his campaign.
Sean Perryman is President Emeritus of the Fairfax County Chapter of the NAACP, a technology public policy advocate, attorney, and former congressional investigator. If elected, he would become one of the youngest Lt. Governors in Virginia history.
