FAIRFAX, VA – Sean Perryman’s exploratory campaign for Lieutenant Governor announced endorsements from leading policy activists on Tuesday. The leaders endorsing Perryman include:
- Amber Beichler: Community leader and activist, Fairfax County
- Elizabeth Benson: SURJ NOVA, Herndon-Reston Indivisible, Fairfax County
- Dr. Sujatha Hampton: Writer and Fairfax County community advocate, Great Falls
- Pastor Michelle C Thomas: Policy Maker, faith leader, community activist, Loudoun County
“I am thrilled to share my endorsement for Sean. Growing up in Loudon and experiencing in my adult life an educational community in which I did not feel welcomed or supported as someone who was transitioning was very challenging. Students of all genders, identities, and orientations need school to be a place where they feel welcomed and included. Sean’s leadership and activism to improve learning environments for vulnerable students has been nothing but impressive and it’s the kind of determination we need to ensure that Virginia’s kids not only view school as a place they can learn but a place they can thrive. I know Sean will continue to stand up for our most vulnerable students as our next Lieutenant Governor,” said Beichler.
“I am proud to stand with Sean in his campaign for Lieutenant Governor. Sean has been a leader in the fight to ensure a responsible reopening in Virginia and to protect the most vulnerable among us. Not only has he led the charge in feeding our healthcare workers and bailing out struggling small businesses, but he understands how this pandemic has highlighted some of the biggest challenges for the next generation and for the most vulnerable. These issues require a fighter who understands the issue and the system—someone like Sean,” said Benson.
“I am endorsing Sean Perryman for Lieutenant Governor because, under his leadership as President of the NAACP, I’ve watched as our membership quadrupled, allowing the Education Committee to grow into a powerful force, able to advocate for the children whose stories are always untold, whose needs are chronically unmet. It has changed lives. Sean’s ability to persuade the public to engage in activism is something I’ve never seen before. Now more than ever we need leaders who know not only how to get things done themselves, but also how to persuade all of us of how much we can accomplish together. I am endorsing Sean because I believe in him, and because he believes in us, ” added Dr. Hampton.
“It has been a pleasure to know and work with Sean, and to witness his commitment to our community. Already, his passion has contributed to a growing membership of the Fairfax NAACP. Sean’s commitment to safety within our community and holding law enforcement accountable is unwavering, from acting quickly to get justice for victims of sexual assault to proactively working to make sure schools are safe for Virginia’s children. The work Sean has accomplished and trust he has built within our community is a great example of the leadership we need across the state. I am proud to support Sean for Lieutenant Governor,” said Pastor Thomas.
In response to the new endorsements from leading activists, Perryman said, “I am humbled to have the support of great leaders in our community. Amber, Elizabeth, Dr. Hampton, and Pastor Thomas have been tireless in their fight to make our community and state stronger for all Virginians, regardless of where they are from, the color of their skin, their economic status, or who they love. I look forward to having these tremendous leaders by my side as we embark on this journey to improve Virginia.”
Sean Perryman is President of the Fairfax County Chapter of the NAACP, a technology public policy advocate, attorney, and former congressional investigator. If elected he would become the youngest Lt. Governor in Virginia history.
