FAIRFAX, VA – Donte Tanner, a former Democratic nominee for the House of Delegates and former Air Force Captain, announced his support for Sean Perryman’s exploratory campaign for Lieutenant Governor on Wednesday. The endorsement is the second endorsement from a prominent Virginia Democrat this week, and comes after the campaign announced that it raised over $80,000 in the first 10 days since its announcement.
Tanner noted his support for Perryman, saying, “I’m thrilled to support Sean’s run for Lieutenant Governor. As a leading advocate for racial justice in Virginia and President of the Fairfax NAACP, Sean is uniquely positioned to step up to the challenges of today, whether it’s police violence, criminal justice reform, or leading an equitable pandemic response. Sean will be a transformational Lieutenant Governor and I look forward to working with him to build a winning coalition that fights for all Virginians, regardless of race, class, gender, or zip code.”
In his response to the early endorsement, Perryman said, “My friend Donte Tanner is a powerful leader in our community and a strong ally to all progressives. Donte has committed his life to putting the needs of others first — from his work as an Air Force Capitan, to his work advocating for tangible policy solutions for Virginians, and I am so proud to have his support.”
Tanner ran for the 2017 Democratic nomination to the 40th district of Virginia’s House of Delegates. He is an Air Force Veteran and Small Business Owner. He resides in Centerville with his family.
Sean Perryman is President of the Fairfax County Chapter of the NAACP, a technology public policy advocate, attorney, and former congressional investigator. If elected he would become the youngest Lt. Governor in Virginia history.
