Prominent Virginia Democratic Activists Endorse Sean Perryman for Lieutenant Governor

Dec 18, 2025

RELEASE: December 18th, 2020
FAIRFAX, VA - Sean Perryman’s campaign for Lieutenant Governor of Virginia announced the endorsements of three prominent Democratic activists on Thursday:
Erin Matson: Reproductive rights activist
Harris Miller: Co-Founder and Vice Chair of the Campaign for Free College Tuition, former Democratic candidate for US Senate
Chris Le Menestrel: Co-lead of Virginia Democracy Forward
These endorsements follow the campaign’s announcement on Tuesday of the endorsement of Pastor F. Todd Gray of the historic Fifth Street Baptist Church in Richmond, VA. These activists join 37 other Virginia leaders that have endorsed Perryman since the launch of his historic campaign.
“”I’m excited to endorse Sean Perryman for Lt. Governor. Integrity matters, and Sean is a bold leader who can be counted on to stand up for what is right. Every time,” said Matson
“I know a good deal about serving as Lt. Governor through my friendship with former Lt. Governor, now Congressman, Don Beyer. Rep. Beyer took that office with its limited responsibilities and produced meaningful results because he is creative, focused, energetic, and goal oriented. I see in Sean a person who shares those attributes, a leader we need in these changing times. Sean has a bold yet achievable vision to address new challenges that will ensure we have a more just and equitable Commonwealth,” added Miller.
“I am thrilled to endorse Sean Perryman in his run for Lt. Governor of Virginia. As someone that has been on the front lines working to turn Virginia Blue, I know that Sean understands the power of political organizing and the need to keep up the fight to make Virginia more progressive. As Lt. Governor, I know that Sean will be a tireless voice in the struggle to protect the working-class, protect our environment, and expand access to healthcare,” remarked Le Menestrel.
In response to the endorsement, Perryman said, “These community leaders have been putting in the work for years to strengthen our Commonwealth and win justice for marginalized communities. Their endorsements are the latest proof that our campaign is the one in this race with the energy, the excitement, and the vision to transform the Lt. Governor’s office and deliver the progressive policies that Virginians are hungry for.”
Sean Perryman is President emeritus of the Fairfax County Chapter of the NAACP, a technology public policy advocate, attorney, and former congressional investigator. If elected he would become one of the youngest Lt. Governor in Virginia history.
